Teaching kids success skills for life
Our Kids Martial Arts program was designed to help your child achieve greater success in life by providing training that enhances physical, mental and social development. Every parent wants the best for their child. Whether your goal is to improve your child's strength, coordination, confidence and leadership skills, or simply to teach them the value of working toward achievable goals, this program can help.
We are helping students of all ages and ability levels across Naperville and Aurora discover a passion for martial arts, and we would love to talk about how we can make a difference for your child.
What kids learn in class
Many parents assume kids' martial arts classes are just punching and kicking. In reality they are so much more. We work with each student individually in a dynamic environment, so classes are never boring and students always feel supported as they work toward their goals. In every 40-minute class your child will:
- Focus and control their attention through drills that reward listening and concentration.
- Build conflict-resolution and bully-prevention skills, starting with posture, a confident voice and knowing when to walk away.
- Practice self-discipline and respect for instructors, classmates and themselves.
- Set and achieve attainable goals with every stripe and belt they earn.
- Learn real Tae Kwon Do: kicks, forms (poomsae), blocks, strikes and practical self-defense.
Physically, students work on strength, flexibility and endurance while sharpening coordination, reflexes and athletic skill. Best of all, they love the excitement of learning Tae Kwon Do kicks, forms and self-defense techniques. No two classes are alike, and kids look forward to each one and to time with their instructors and classmates.
Fit, focused and confident
Our class curriculum is built around a series of life skills: Focus, Confidence, Respect and Self-Control. We hope every student carries those with them for life, both on and off the mat. Parents and teachers consistently notice the positive effect Tae Kwon Do has on a student's success in school, from being more efficient with homework to a longer attention span for learning any subject.
The journey to Black Belt challenges kids to set and achieve goals while their self-esteem grows. Along the way they face new experiences, like breaking a board, sparring for the first time or testing in front of a panel of instructors, and discover that with effort and practice they are capable of far more than they thought.
Instructors who make the difference
The staff at World Class Tae Kwon Do are experts at motivating children and getting their best effort while keeping class fun. Owners Master TJ Eskew and Master Dennis Polanski each have more than 15 years of teaching experience and trained directly under Grandmaster Sun Ki Chong, former U.S. National Team Head Coach. Our instructors are patient and enthusiastic, and teach with a blend of discipline and fun that kids respond to.

Frequently asked questions
What ages are the Kids classes for?
Ages 7 to 12. Five and six year olds start in Little Tigers, and students 13 and up train in our Teen and Adult classes.
How often should my child come?
Most families attend two classes per week. Kids classes run Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, so it is easy to find two that fit around school and other activities.
Will my child learn to fight?
Your child will learn real self-defense, but Tae Kwon Do is a disciplined art built on respect. We teach kids that martial arts is about self-improvement and protecting themselves, never about starting a fight. Studies have found martial arts training actually reduces aggression in young people.
Does martial arts help kids with ADHD or focus issues?
Many of our families come to us for exactly this reason. Structured classes, positive repetition and clear expectations help kids build focus and self-control habits. Read more in our post on Tae Kwon Do and ADHD.
